small moves

I bought a yard of 2 sided fusible a while back and knew this day was coming. My scrap baskets are full to overflowing, the cards are all cut out and now all I have to do is please myself one 4"x6" space at a time. These are all headed to market..and speaking of which. Does anyone know just what the market will bear, price-wise,for mailable fiber art postcards these days? I am without a clue, all input gratefully considered.

Deb, I suggest doing a search on Etsy to see how folks are pricing their postcards. Your cards are sweet!

I was going to say the same as Connie. These are really nice cards!

I've cruised the Etsy pages on fabric postcards a bit, and found that the prices vary considerably. But then again, the degree of effort and artistry of the cards varied quite a bit, as well, and I'm not sure what price actually *sells* the best. I don't really have an answer, except to say that you should think about the cost of materials and time for each one and price accordingly. It also depends on whether these are one-of-a-kind art pieces or more on the craft side. As always, don't undervalue your work -- even if it sells at the low price, it isn't sustainable if you are losing money on the deal.

Hi Deb, check out www.art2mail.com. I haven't looked there lately but seems to me they charged $25 per card. I had that in mind when I tried to sell cards last year but around here people have a Walmart mind-set, don't know art, so they thought $5 was pricey. I don't think you should compare yourself with Etsy so much as other Quiltart participants. Haven't been sewing so you haven't seen your fabrics. Have to finish a controlled project first (requirements and such). Good luck with your cards! Rosalie

Have you considered a local art venue with a gift shop attached? Or a high end gift shop specializing in one of a kind items? Good luck.
