ColorHue Dyes

Where has this stuff been all my fiber life?
I can see with just a little monkeying around that many things are different here. The physics of wet in wet. How far color will and wont wander. The transparency effects and how the different colors work together or not.

I made the mistake of separating the various silks from their bags with labels so I don't have  the right names for the fabric.
This silk is sturdy, shiny and shrieks when you rip it with gusto. It loves the dye.
A little goes a long way and I'm running wild this morning...

Mark making with brushes and droppers. Seeing how far and true I can make my intentions and just how much is left to the whim of the cloth, dye and water.

I feel the ladybugs watching from the treeline, nervous.

I especially like the pink + black one + its partly eyeshaped dots...

Hi Deb,
I had some rayon pants that I and one other person dyed with the color hue dyes while in Fl. When home, I washed them in the washing machine, with Tide, and the colors came out. Only faint indications of the beautiful dye job remained. I wrote to the Color Hue people, and they said Tide has brighteners, and that's not good. I did not pre-wash the pants, so they may have resisted the dye. I don't know for sure, but a half day's work went down the drain.

If I was gonna eat fabric for dessert, I'd hope these were on the menu!

Cool! Love them, esp the yellow and green. No, the pink. No, the red. Okay, love them all. BTW, love your blog!

Have you played with them since you did this post?

No karen, I haven't ...the kit had very small bottles and I used them up on what little silk I had. The stuff was great fun but pricey as is silk...I much prefer cottons.
