You did WHAT?

Of course we're never supposed to talk about our day jobs  but JEEZ LOUISE!! When you call up an organization to make an official report do you think that you might know what time it is where you are???? That you might have most of the pertinent facts and information is just too much to ask - I wear out the U-N-K keys typing the work Unknown over and over. Could you possibly be holding a pen or pencil in your trotter?!? Why BOTHER, Why call? I know !! it's COVER YOUR ASS TIME!

This work calls for me to be polite, civil and non-judgmental with people who are often covering up their own malfeasance about 30 times a day. (And I wondered why my hair was falling out) - to be compassionate would be too much of a stretch.

Between callers and calls I take a moment to swear in a way that would make sailors faint. Anyone passing by my home office would hasten away, heart quaking.
I curse their lineage and pray they have not yet reproduced.  I am a strong proponent of the Darwin Awards. I could hand them out daily in my line of work.

although the Buddha might cringe, I think the balance is appropriate.

WHEW! Now doesn't that feel better???? I worked in customer service calling people when their car insurance was about to expire. My hair used to be curly from all the assinine things that were said to me... but me, I had to remain calm, respectful, caring... Sometimes I would cringe at home when the phone rang and I had to answer it.

I worked in customer service at the Internal Revenue Service for a couple of years so I sympathize. I learned to stay calm and not let anyone rattle me.

Deanna,
I started my career with AT&T as a telephone operator and had zero stress, it crept up a bit when they forced me into a sales job. But this is different and never personal to me. It's a business to business type job and the thoughtlessness, stupidity and lack of common sense is appalling.

i got phone harassed today and it almost made me cry. there's something so intrusive for me about people calling my home and being rude. i can't imagine working with my home phone line.....

today had to do with our pest control service....bought to check for termites...which they apparently don't do, so we asked them to remove a wasp nest...and somehow they've gotten in their heads they're coming every month...or not coming and charging us anyway...

long story short they've been reported to their main office, which has on record that we only wanted our wasps removed, and that our service ended after that.

for two days now i've gotten five phone calls from three different men harassing me.....

don't use orkin!

Shades of yesteryear! I worked as a cust. service rep for the gas go eons ago. Hated it! But there were some real professionals on the phones back then. I remember one who was always polite & serene, no matter how assinine the caller was. But one day, someone got on her left nerve, and she politely put them on hold, screamed an obscenity (we had about 75 reps in the room at the time who all got to hear her!), then went back to the caller "...thank you for holding".
Amazing!
