Christmas Eve

Yesterday was given over to baking, some for us, some for neighbors. I have to call over there and check on the survivors. Although I make a stellar apple pie, this was my first ever made-from-scratch crust, recipe courtesy of Joe over at man handled threads.

Today, everything is wrapped, there was a little pre-lasagna prep work and now, time for a little hand stitching. Merry Christmas everyone.

I was always good at fillings (she said modestly) but bought the crust because mine should never have been inflicted on humans. :) However, that all changed when a friend gave me his recipe. It's amazing what can happen when you get a good pie crust recipe!

Your work looks wonderful - and as arlee said "all things merry and bright" to you and yours, Deb.

Thanks for a wonderful year!

Good for you! Once you make a pie crust that is good you will never go back. I have used this recipe for years. It is also the one in the Barefoot Contessa cookbooks. I use butter flavor crisco and butter. It makes a wonder tasting and easy to roll crust!! I bet your pie was delicious!! Merry Christmas and more adventures in 2013.... cooking, sewing, and life!!
