rockin' the punk, punk, punk

To keep the retail therapy to a minimum I ducked into Mike's Crapola Emporium and bought a few hanks of plain white DMC floss, one hank of white Perle and ran out the door ignoring the 50% sale signs everywhere.

I hand painted them  with procion MX..a pesky business that would have been better with q-tips - but since DMCs variegated colors are so pricey, I'm hooked on making my own now

I love the sound that the needle makes ...punk, punk, punk, punk.

I love creating my own dyed threads. The hard part is when you get to the end of the skein and trying to remember how you got that particular color varigation. I guess I could get organized and write it down. ROFLMAO!!! Another fun way is to use press & seal saran wrap. Lay a hunk down, place your skein (tied off in several places), squirt dye in a few spots, press, seal, and wait. I think some of my favorite combos came about by using complimentary colors. Have fun!

Awesome! I really need to try dyeing my own, especially after seeing your results!

what restraint you exercised. Not sure I would have managed to pass by the 50% off stuff!

Your threads are of course so much better (richer, more interesting, more lively, etc.) than what one can buy as variegated!

The ready made variegated are too regular and predictable so great idea to create your own.
