just not feeling it..

I spent most of the morning yesterday in the unheated studio laying this out. Now I marvel at the myriad ways I find to waste precious time.

That piece of brown and lavender damask that is the base of this twenty inch square is going to devil me.

It's been in any number of false starts.  It's only quick basted so tonight I'm going to take it apart, pack all the pieces in a baggy and have a giveaway. Leave a comment and Wednesday I'll pick a winner..maybe you'll have better luck with all this than me.

Oh my Deb, there's probably a lot more going on then just a piece of cloth that doesn't seem to fit ....
Wishing you the piece of mind to start another one ... stitching IS your way of life you know, no matter what ...
Take care !

Sometimes just laying things out, sorting etc--is good exercise for our brains and our emotions. Not wasted.

But I would enjoy figuring out your baggy of bits.

Awww...you sound so frustrated! I, of course, like this lay out...but I always like what I see. I love your idea of just giving it away though. I'd sure like to do that with lots of thinks I'm not feeling. Not just cloth things...but things like housecleaning and bill paying/organizing and clutter clearing and understanding of big grown up *stuff - like medical insurance, trying to say towards retirement, selling old & unwanted items to earn a bit of cash...work related stuff...
OH MY the list is long, eh?! Can't I just put all of this stuff in baggies and give it away?!! lol Thanks for posting this and lifting my spirits by this wacky tangent thinking :)

Ever so often I, too, find that something that I imagine will work goes totally "wonky" when I put the bits together...and my imagined design disappears with every step of the way..I like the idea of saying enough and putting the bits in a baggie...that sounds like a good practice to friendly cannibalize for use in my own studio. The pieces in this group do look like spring as Karoda mentioned...for me the challenge is always big when putting organic shapes together with linear pieces, like the rusty brown at the sides and bottom.
Thanks for the giveaway oopportunity.

I get it. Sometimes, no matter how much you fuss and fix, it can never please you, and you get to the point where you just have to say "Enough". And no outside encouragement will change it.

I love that you're giving it away though. That's REALLY letting go. And it's a great challenge or chance for the next person.

Hope it's me. :)

I'd be happy to give it a go, or it can rest in my pile of potential for a while until something strikes me.
Be very kind to yourself.

I'm so glad I discovered you through Jude. Your colors are joyous to me. This piece? Trees and a butterfly, roots and wings. I would love to play with this one. You're teaching me so much. Thank you.

Not everything in life is meant to be a perfect fit. If it's giving you fits, it's time to put it down and move to a better place! I do admire your work.
