the wormhole

I can't even claim to have fallen into the wormhole of holiday preparations. We have a tree, but it's still leaning up against the wall in a corning of the living room. No lights, no wreath, no cards in the mail. There have been some self-congratulations on finding something that will delight Charlie for a long time to come. A few culinary plans for Christmas day. But beyond that, my mood has not been quite "bah humbug". More like "meh".

Like many of you, I've been pouncing on my mailman anxiously awaiting news of Grace from California. Going through the mechanics of tracking someone down with not a lot of information.

I just finished making up nine Fat Baggies of scraps dug deep from ancient tubs on high shelves. Old cloth, pure colors, many textures. Now that you've taken care of everyone else, they won't get there for Christmas, but what's a bad day when cloth arrives in the mail?

(((Deb))) really missing Grace's daily words and images too but with a bit of luck a card from Australia should show up in your letterbox any day!

Before grace left for CA, she gifted me with some of your amazing thread Deb and today, I re-worked one of my cloth landscape collages using your thread. I dye cloth with the gits of the land, that's my passion, stitching, well "meh", I'm not gifted in that area but plod along but no more...your variegated green thread (my favorite color) just glided through my cloth pieces SO thank you for creating such wonderful thread and taking stitching from "meh" to "WOW!"

Our mail comes very late--in the dark. And each day when my husband and the dog go out to check the box at the end of a long driveway,I race to see if there is a postcard. And everyday--I am sad to say there isn't one. I check (several times a day) to see if you or Mo has gotten one. If Jude was on line I would be certain she would get one first. But she is away.

I also haven't found any Holiday cards in the mail. I did send out a big handful.
But we still have a way to go to Christmas.

Ordered one of your fat baggies .. Christmas gift to self. I too miss Grace and always the many comments. Having some of your fabrics will bring her and all of you close.
