My ...Ah the mystery and allure of old typewriters! My BIL just got my sister a vintage Olympia, just like the old one of my mom's that we used to type on. this is it: http://sevenels.net/typewriters/large/OlympiaSM3.jpg

I swear she gave it away so we girls wouldn't fight over it. My sister doesn't agree, but I figure I'm write and the proof is that she saved EVERYTHING else!! I was so excited to try it out. Let me tell you, we are spoiled by computer keyboards for sure! You need some strong fingers to type. Amazing. My mother could type really well, me I still hunt and peck! When electric typewriters became popular, she got a Smith Corona w/ the pop out cartridges. We thought this was just genius! So easy to correct my many mistakes. My daughter at 5 years old fell in love with typing and typed page long letters. As far as computers, I started out on my son's Gateway and whatever was at work...ya know the kind with paper with holes in the sides to feed it through! My how things have changed, In 2009 I got my mama's MacBook, which is what I still use. I loved your storytelling here :)Nancyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17185798765137874091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19241214.post-29957306203468674172015-01-11T01:15:38.337-05:002015-01-11T01:15:38.337-05:00hs---the cover photo looks like the one my dad use...hs---the cover photo looks like the one my dad used and I finally parted with to the second hand shops only ten years ago. My first computer arrived as a gift from a friend upgrading in 2009, and about two years later I released the lovely, light portable Olivetti that a journalist friend had recommended. I kind of wish I still had that one http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/01/books/01typewriter.html?_r=0

But, truth be told, I've been spoiled by the computer. I love your story...the image of the rat tail hilarious...and the pleas for country stamps. :-> Ms.https://www.blogger.com/profile/09479767121319709878noreply@blogger.com
