more changlings

These got left outside in the weather. A clutch of two-inch strips of cotton sheeting ripped up ages ago for some forgotten project. I guess I'll have to wait for them to dry before untangling them to see what's what.

Everything else in that attempt at "darker" was pretty much a fail. Do-overs are easy.

How a day is done

..
Winding is mindless and mindful at the same time. Something I can do while watching. Watching the running, jumping, playing. The Joy.

His booster seat in the backseat of my coupe calls for me to climb in and out to secure him. A dozen times by noon with yesterday's errands. This morning I'm just waiting for the drugs to kick in.

Yesterday would have been Jim's 64th birthday. We sang the Beatles song and had pizza. Charlie provided the genuine laughs.

At a time in my life when heart's joy was so low, this little being has made a big dent in the shortfall.

composing...

....a new, large work means cutting into pieces that I have been hoarding. Some for many years.

It's time.

The piece wants a lot of darkness so a bunch of things not shown here are headed back down to the dyedeck for some Raven and Deep Space.

This cloth piece will be born under the same stars, as the next book. I'm thinking about both at the same time.

..
too soon to tell.

new lights

steel & sky.

more tomorrow, unless the sun comes out so I can finally get in the pool.

The water bill came today. I should have filled it with cheap champagne!

I really have to hunt for the mystery green I need for the next large piece.
Clear and dark with vibrancy, a glow. alien's blood green. The kind of green that's hard to see in full sun.

And some Eyes of Tazmeena green too, may she rest in sweet peace.

One little soul slips away and another steps up.

May little Ezra take up her tenacity.

It's an all day rain.

My favorite kind. Takes me to unknown places out of time. Places to drift and dream in.

This was at 9ish this morning. I had to turn on the lights in the studio. My plans were altered a bit.

There are only a baker's dozen skeins of a new color drying under the lights.

Followup. An intersting experiment. I made a mix with all the new colors. A like amount of each. The pomegranate seems to be dominating which means it has a flash a fuchsia. I have been warned.

The writer got a whole lot of pages edited and I've started to tinker with the idea of cover art, which is much more science than art, I'm learning.

Any doubts about the book's genre? Didn't think so.

You know what aisle you're in.

storm light

Tomorrow, I'll spend some time picking through this. See what jumps out at me, making obscene demands.

Heavy weather predicted for the whole weekend. The colors arrived yesterday so I may be trying something new in the rain on the dye deck.

Sweetie curled around my feet against the thunder.

raven. steel. bronze. deep space. peacock. blueberry. pomegranate. soft orange. goldeneye.
rain, thunder, and lightning.
Should be interesting.

Summertime

Celebrated my wedding anniversary with a good friend. Jim would have approved.

As per tradition, we celebrated two days in a row -June 4th and June 5th - thanks to the judge who got lost coming to do our wedding and who made us come to town hall the next morning to repeat our vows to make it legal.

First pages

Prepping some elements for something new.
The trick is how wet the cloth and how long to wait.

shop update

If you order today, I can get them to the post office by noon tomorrow. Remember, if you claim a set, you must email me to follow up.

(The international experiment seems to be working so far for Australia and Canada.)

church

a chill friday

I went out to shut off the hose filling the pool and something failed and drenched me. These colors won't run.

The blouse is so old that the tiny print was nearly invisible and there is a seed burn hole on the back (think on it). Forty years? More? I got it from a second-hand store in NY sometime in the '70s.
The hand of the cloth is like lawn but more substantial, and the construction and fit were so fine, I could never part with it. Dye has it born again in the best way.

Then, with grim determination, I dismembered a piece that's been hanging around the river basket like a case of poison ivy. It's done and 90% of the cloth bits were saved, including the base - a really fine huck tea towel, plain vanilla.
