the Mystery in the History

~
There is a mystery in the history of each piece of old cloth. What was it intended for and what actually happened to it. Who was the maker? Who was the user?

So many questions to conjure the answers for. I'll be making stuff up because that's what I do-from whole cloth and dreams. The research will be minimal, imagination to the max.

In the coming year, I'm going to be attempting to bring some of each to the page and with my hands, put some of it into something new with the old cloth.

I've brought them halfway home with the color and I'm feeling responsible for these wayward children.

I'll bet Grace Forest is missing seeing these where she now resides though I'm pretty sure she has pieces still with her. She has dubbed you Queen of color and you have every right to the title.

I agree with wondering and pondering on their history. Feel the same way about antiques. Who made these items? Where did they live? When?

I feel like I'm looking at my own stash of oldies, remade with color. I just love the way the tatted edges are flowing with color as part of the fabric. I don't know if I could bring myself to cover up so much of the original pattern, but maybe...you are giving me ideas for dyeing.
Don't you find it so interesting how these old heirlooms end up in the thrift stores? I understand why, but at the same time I'm like huh??? I find so many of them there and can hardly stop myself from buying them up, even though I have loads of them here at home.
And funny, I just finished a piece today and wrote about it and am asking myself the same kinds of questions about one of the old pieces in it...who made this? who was it made for?...
