Crossing back over to the darkside
It's been thirty years since the last time I painted a canvas. I had to open some of the paint tubes with a pair of pliers.
Jimmy gave me this easel for our
twenty-fifth wedding anniversary.
What did he know that I didn't.
I had the alligator dream again last night. It was either paint or start looking for drugs.
I made this piece while waiting for the paint to dry. It's going to be one of the book's pages I think. Some people are better at waiting than others.

Better don't give up your acrylics! It is just a matter of time that also oils need pliers to be opened. Try to put the acrylics cap down into boiling hot water and let them rest for 15 minutes, in most cases the paint gets softened, and you can turn the cap. Very good for long term use: The little Lascaux plastic containers with non-screw caps. Also empty jam jars make good containers for torn acrylic tubes. Add half a teaspoon of water if the jam jar is large!
I knew this day was coming :) Good luck and fresh colours, as you know you can. The start is always somehow embarrasing, but let the paint lead the way and keep dreaming :) Maybe the alligator will turn into something else :)
golden has come out with acrylics that behave like oils...i was sent a sample but can't find it...if and when i do, will be happy to send you one to try...(my great-grand would remark "half caught chicken don't fill my pot" to such an offer)...well check out the website and request a sample...maybe they are still available.
alligators eating you? evil demented crayons? surreee, rigggght, as i back away slowly from your blog.
Deb,
Funny... I hadn't touched my acrylics for about 20 years, and recently took a mixed media collage class that required acrylics as part of the supplies. They still worked! I understand there are mediums you can add to them to slow the drying time, plus a s__tload of other products I never heard of! But I do like the smell of the paint... Have fun!

i feel like painting too. my dad liked oils because he could have plenty of time to change things before they dried. slow painting. i like acrylics. i just paint right over.
It looks exciting. My acrylics are well and truly stuck up.
