Now that I've committed to using paint to highlight the stitching on this piece, we'll see how much I'm in love with it when it's finished.
I can tell you I find the process messy, tedious and exacting - not what I am feeling at the moment. Just when I was feeling loose, exuberant and ready to fling things finishing this piece is demanding precision and control.

Funny how you're doing this at the same moment I'm scheduled to do a workshop focusing on lines. I'll be using water based resist on lightly dyed silk and then we'll be painting dye in between the lines. I've made some samples where I stitched on the resist lines. Looks pretty good so far...

This is so dynamic and rich. I like the rough edge of the arc and the circle that bisects the top----powerful colours and shapes

It's hard sometimes to follow the discipline needed to achieve the look you have in mind. I spent months a couple years back sewing beads to a piece, then doing more hand stitching to get the look I wanted, but it really made the piece. In your case, I think the results are really stunning, and maybe having a free and loose piece to alternate with this one might get you through the process... hope you keep at it!
A very good idea, indeed - although pretty demanding, i'm sure the result will be rich and beautiful. I agree with tiedyejudy, maybe an alternate piece, more on the free wild side, will keep your focus on this one. Keep showing us the progress :)
