My mailbox garden is looking pretty ratty these days. These sunflowers and morning glories soared twelve feet but I won't take them down until everyone has eaten or carried off all that is useful to them.
Time enough to take it all down when the weather changes. I keep telling myself I need to do some garden preparation for our winds, which could come at any time...
just as it is here. tattered but still standing. now the finches come to finish off seeds of everything. it's brown amid the still green, crunchy amidst the still succulent. a moment in the year. soon to change. i think of you all the time, love

The goldfinch will make take care of the sunflower quickly. I hear you. Everything looks tired here, too. Have a happy!
Picture #1 is all too familiar. Picture #2 is make me very happy.
