cusspots found

Well these have been missing in action since the art fair back in October - the leftover cusspots that I was cranking out.  Still have a few undyed and half a cone of string so I know what I'll be working on today at work.     These were part of an early experiment in fiber Mummification. I wanted  them to feel like baskets so I dipped them in a water/matte medium mix, squeezed them out, shaped them by hand and let them dry.
There is something relaxing and reflexive about this kind of work. After a few, I start to wander from the original plan and get crazy. See that tail on the blue one?

I used to crochet similar pouches and
embellish them with beads then braid
necklaces for them. It's a satisfying process-making a soft container.

seems appropriate that they be like clay. hardening at one point.

Ooooo... these are nice! I've heard them mentioned but don't remember seeing them before. Don't know why, but in this image, they make me think of a choir... each producing a different kind of musical voice! I can also see a room filled with them suspended from the cieling on varying lengthed cords... wild!

Love these little guys. They look like they are from an archaelogical dig.

love these! since they look archeological, perhaps it made sense for them to be lost for awhile...

They are very lovely! Beautiful colors and each one is different!

They also remind me of something the American Indians would have made. Their basketry was so highly crafted and beautiful. These are so very lovely and whimsical. Are you going to sell any of them?

What wonderful little pots...and what a great idea for all those odds and ends (especially threads). They have a real organic feel to them.
Love the colours...am I too far away to send a padded envelope (Australia)?

Jacky.
