warming up leftovers

Before  I could mix up new dyestock I prepped a small lot of cloth to use up the leftovers from last year. They were stored optimally in a small cooler and I took them out for the first time yesterday so they've had a full day to come around to ambient temperature.

The method was a hasty "dunk it in here" parfait affair -  I was anxious to get the squeeze bottles cleaned and ready for the new colors. There are all kinds of cottons here from an embossed upholstery woven to some squares of humble, unbleached muslin. I'll give this bunch until tomorrow morning....

I made a big mess and am not inclined to clean it up right away. It's hot, I'm tired and there's a lotta later in today still.

  1. I laugh! Looks just the way I left my place yesterday afternoon when I had been dyeing for two days and was TIRED and just couldn't deal with the cleanup. Thank god I have a place I can just walk away and leave as-is. Happy spring this week! -sus

  2. I am so envious. I have been getting my outside chores done so that when it heats up, I can play. Snow is in the forecast every dang day this week! I know I'll be griping in July about 100+ temps, but geez louise, I want to get out the dyes.
Have fun! Baseball season is getting closer!

  3. Now that's a great idea! I never thought of just sticking fabric pieces into jars of older dye... what have I got to lose, right?

  4. WOW! you'll have some beautiful colors just by the look of the jars. looks like sunset colors. mmm nice!

Tell me everything!

I've just finished taking pictures of the new sets of threads and need to rest my eyes.  Looking at Salem is always a relief from too m...

Play it again Sam.
