A decade

Proof to me that time is not linear. Jim's been gone ten years now. For me, ever-present. Sometimes, I still feel he's just gone to the store and should be home soon.

Although he was almost always smiling or clowning around, this is a good look at a smart, serious guy staring down some big picture. Making a plan and a backup. He took care and let me be a goofy butterfly.

10 years!! Still so fresh. I think of Your Jimmy often. What a great photo capturing him here for all time. My EX = 11 years, BIL = 7 years...which only proves that time marches on. (((hugs)))

I remember the first time I "found" your blog; I believe the post might have been about Jim, Colin and Jake making chili. My heart has always ached for you since Jim left. This picture is beautiful. I know he was one of the really good men, as is my husband. You and Jim were young together while we were 37 (me) and 51 when we met and were married 8 weeks later. We all get different stories. I don't want to know what this pain feels like. You are so fortunate to have such a beautiful family.

I will always remember the words of a dear woman as we sat on the raised hearth of the fireplace in her living room ... we were surrounded by her children and grandchildren, gathered to mourn the passing of their father/grandfather ... Don and I were honored to be included in their family

"55 years we had," she said, shaking her head, "it wasn't long enough"

Thank you all for reflecting on love and loss with me. What would one be without the other?
