BW continues

I started another one this morning and for a second though about the "quilt as you go" technique where smaller units are completed and then joined. As you can see by the discrepancy in size, that's not the road I'm going down here, but that first test piece turned out so tasty, there's no way I can't include it in the main even especially since I have a good bit more of that velvety black linen to work with. Still waiting on that thread from Superior....

looking here and then back a few
i realize how totally and completely satisfying black and
white is.
this, THIS, is just welllll, no
new words, so is just SATISFYING
to just sit and stare at. and
how it stares BACK.

ahhhhhh. feels SO good

It demands attention while color merely expects it. Getting the very black black and very white white in key positions is crucial to the conversation. As you can see I cheat with tiny flicks of colors though.

I love the dash of gold and the blue/black edges of dyeing, too... I've been wanting to make a bigger quilt by joining smaller quilted pieces too - it would solve the quilting a huge hunk of cloth dilemma. It seems to be you could take the time, with this method, to create uniform rectangles - also as you go... right?

but the last thing I would want is any hint of "the grid". I spend all my design time trying to escape the warp and weft! In fact those rectangular pieces on the right are bothering me right now.
