There it is. The offending digit. Why it's on strike is beyond me. Lefty really doesn't do a whole lot beyond. this holding move. There's a bit of space bar action when I'm working or writing, all of which has progressed from annoying to painful.
Over the weekend it went from bad to worse. So, 1/18 at 8:45am it's time to see a doc about this hand jive.

I had similar and had injections in both wrists for this thumb/wrist issue. My dr. said that a lot of new mothers gets this same issue because of the way they pick up their babies (stretching thumb(s) to pick up)..same happens with us using a hoop, which I stopped. Brace helps as well. Good luck...I am so aware of what causes my pain that I try to avoid those.
Wondering about the thumb and the hoop. Stress in soft tissue or a nerve or tendon. If you have a soft ball about 2 inches in diameter that you can try and squeeze with that hand- see if that stretches things. My daughter gave me one years ago- not soft but the right size. I use it to press into pressure points. Hurts like hell but they open the tight spots. I've been told by husband's doctor to do just that to his hip joint and it hurts but- 10 days in- he isn't having any pain and is walking upright. Was stuck. Now open.
Trigger point therapy might be your answer. A good massage therapist with extra training in TPT may help you avoid that trip to the doctor. If you're inclined to try to fix it yourself (I do it all the time for any soft tissue pain, with my doctor's blessing), the one book I never let out of my house is The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook - Your Self-Treatment Guide For Pain Relief by Clair Davies, NCTMB and Amber Davies, NCTMB. If you'd like me to send a PDF of the four pages related to thumb pain, just email me.
Ah, trigger thumb...it's painful, yes? Now I've got two naughty thumbs :)
