bereft

My constant companion Jinx has been missing for two days and we fear the worst.

She started Firefly  with me just  after my birthday and she finished it with me curled in my lap on Sunday morning.  I am sad beyond words.

To all the kind hearts who have offered encouragement, hope and prayers, I thank you. My thoughts wander back and forth between imagined horrors and the hope that she is doing what animals do - find seclusion, curl up and wait for whatever may be.

oh deb...isn't it too soon to give up hope? Maybe she is at the animal shelter or accidentally stuck in someone's house/garage (both have happened to our cats)...
Have you put up wanted posters in your neighborhood?

Hi Deb, it's too soon to give up. Unless you find a body, keep up hope for at least 3 weeks or a month. If a cat is injured, it will sull up and hide until it is healed. Our cat was run over, had a broken hip, and was still for almost a month. Then she started moving and eating, drinking, and was OK. Sometimes, it's mating season, and they go a little kooky. Other things can happen that do not mean she is gone forever. Don't assume the worst until you know, for sure, she's gone/or died, or too much time has passed. Do let us know what happens. Hugs. Been there..... Rosie

Oh, I hope you will find her and that she is ok. I know there is hardly a worse feeling.

Really, two days is not long. Don't give up. My cat went missing for almost a week and then one day came home. We think he was locked in a garage while people were awy on holiday.
I hope for the best for you.

Oh no, what a horrible feeling. I hope she's just sitting somewhere pretending to be a wild thing and will come home when she remembers how much you love her. All good vibes your and her ways!

Yes, two days is an eternity while
waiting for her to show up but it's
not time to give up on her strolling
up to the door.

Cats are amazing in their ability to
find their way home when lost. I'm also visualizing her back home.

Deb, Hang in there. I've had dogs and cats all my life. Cats are just so smart. My cat "Taylor" vanished for over a week, only to have me come out and find her sleeping on the deck. I never knew where she went, but was happy to have her back. I am sending out good vibes that your baby will be back soon. Don't think of what could have happened, but rather all the wonderful joy she brings you.

I know how I would feel if it were one of my beloved pets. I feel your pain, truly.
I will be watching for good news.
